Can someone with a mild TBI (traumatic brain injury) join the military?

I work at a school and an 8th grader has expressed interest in joining the military after high school. He suffered a TBI in a car accident 2 yrs ago and still has problems with memory and organizational skills. I assume the answer is no, but his special ed teacher acknowledged his military goal as okay.

no, it isn’t likey that this person would be acceptable for military service, but he’s in 8th grade, his goals will change at least ten times before he graduates. The important thing is that he learn to set goals and strive for them, at this point, what the goals are isn’t important, that he has goals is.

it probably depends on how bad his injury is and if he has any problems because of it. I have epilepsy but it wasnt a result of an injury but when i was in high school and the military, navy, etc would call me and ask if i was interested i said that i had epilepsy and they told me that i couldnt join because of that.
