Has anyone received a brain injury from an accident without having an exterior wound?

I was in a 4 car pile up and doctors are looking into seeing if I might have some internal brain injuries, but I did not receive any exterior wound, bump or bruise. Has anyone gotten a brain injury internally only? How did you find out you had one and what was your treatment?

you could easily have gotten a concussion. it happens when your head snaps backwards and forward in a whiplash motion and the tissue that is your brain bangs against the bones of your cranium causing bleeding and/or swelling. scans should show the doctors what they are looking for, as well as monitoring you for other symptoms such as nausea, etc. treatment would depend on what is found.

Hi, yes it is very possible that you can get internal brain injuries, even if you don’t have an external wound or bump! You see, what happened in your case, was your head must have shook very violently, without being hit by anything. What happens then inside your head, your brain is actually shaken inside the skull, so the Dr’s will be checking to see if any damage occurred through this.

    Hope this helps.

In november my parents and i were picking up my older sister from college and she accidently slammed the trunk door of the car on my head. i expected to see blood running down my face, but nothing was there, no bump or anything. I had a mild headache for a couple of hours and then went to bed. When i woke up I had th worse headache of my life. My head was throbbing and i couldn’t see straight or pay attention to anything. That night i went to the er because my mom was concerned. i had a CAT scan and there was minor bruising in my brain (concussion). I just had to rest for a while and got to catch up on my sleep. I had no exterior trauma but I still had a minor concussion. If this is the case for you take 2 advil at each of you meals and get a lot of rest. Good Luck!

Hi there, you are probably suffering from concussion
It does not all ways show strait away
that’s where the brain is rocked about inside the skull and bruised a little
this makes you feel dizzy sometimes double vision and my feel sick and of course headaches
take things slow and rest when or if you feel any of the symptoms
    it will pass
If in doubt go see your doctor or A&E

you would have been hospitilized immediatly and have gone throught alot of treatment and test in the hospital, it is not fun. MRI and CT’s would let you know if you have internal bleeding, also if you had any bleeding from the ears would be a sign for the doctor as well. The treatment on internal bleeding in the brain is only waiting period of 48 hours to see if you will make it or not. Doctors would of ran all of these tests done and I think you dont have internal bleeding or you would of found out for sure.
